ADC Kaduna Faction Dismisses Purported Expulsion of Acting Chairman, Others

The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed as null and void the purported expulsion of its Acting Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, and several other key officials of the party in the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 27, 2025, and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Engr. Idris Musa, the party described the alleged expulsion as a desperate move by individuals who, according to the ADC, are not bona fide members of the party.

Engr. Musa stated that the individuals behind the purported expulsion are members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State but have been parading themselves as ADC members with the aim of hijacking the party’s structure in the state and across the North-West zone.

“We wish to inform all well-meaning and duly registered members of the ADC in Kaduna State to disregard the said expulsion, as it is considered null and void,” the statement said.

“The action appears to be a desperate attempt by individuals who are not members of the ADC but are struggling to take over the party under the guise of coalition partners. It’s either you are in the ADC or you are out,” the party added.

The statement further linked the alleged expulsion to a pending legal case — Suit No. FCT/HC/GAR/CV/383/2025 — filed at the FCT High Court in Abuja. The case reportedly challenges the dual membership status of former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai and others.

Engr. Musa noted that the move against the state leadership, including Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, Engr. Idris Musa, Alhaji Suleiman Abdulkadir, and Barr. Danlami Dabai, was a “fight-back” by those affected by the legal action.

The statement urged ADC members across Kaduna State to remain calm and law-abiding while the matter is before the court.

“We will not join issues with these individuals, especially in view of the pending case at the FCT High Court in Abuja. Our party will continue to operate in accordance with its Constitution and principles, and we will not be swayed by the antics of desperate politicians,” it stated.

The ADC reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, rule of law, and the unity of its members in Kaduna State and beyond.

Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has cautioned Islamic clerics to be vigilant and wary of the vain promises and deceitful tactics often employed by politicians during election periods.

Speaking during an interactive session with Islamic scholars across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna, Senator Sani urged clerics to resist inducements and political manipulation aimed at winning their support for selfish political interests.

He, however, called on Islamic clerics across Kaduna State to support the re-election bid of Governor Uba Sani, whom he described as a leader committed to good governance and responsive to the needs of the people.

According to the former senator, Governor Uba Sani has demonstrated a high sense of responsibility and dedication to addressing the yearnings of citizens since assuming office nearly two years ago.

Senator Sani further encouraged the clerics to unite in identifying and presenting the major needs of the Muslim community—such as the renovation of mosques, establishment of Islamic schools, and support for orphanages—to the government in a structured and coordinated manner.

He warned religious leaders to beware of political figures who only seek their support during elections and neglect them thereafter.

“The era of deceit and the use-and-dump approach to Islamic clerics is over,” Senator Sani declared.

He appealed to the religious leaders to continue praying for Governor Uba Sani and to support his administration, describing the governor as a listening and visionary leader committed to the development of Kaduna State.

In their brief remarks, several Islamic clerics commended Senator Sani for taking the bold step to convene such a meeting, which they said exposed the deceitful tendencies of some politicians.

They also pledged to use their influence as mobilisers to support credible leaders with proven records of capacity and performance in future elections.

This multi-layered approach to youth reform embodies the Governor’s belief that progress is meaningless if not accompanied by peace, discipline and hope.

Healthcare and Human Dignity

Governor AKY’s people-oriented governance extends deeply into the health sector. His administration has rehabilitated general hospitals and primary health centers, provided modern equipment and recruited medical personnel to fill critical gaps. The Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman on his appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA).

Prof. Othman appointment was announced by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, His Excellency Ali Abubakar Jatau, following the 36th Special Meeting of the Council held at the Grand Amber Hotel and Suites, Dutse, Jigawa State.

Governor Radda described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Prof. Othman’s distinguished academic career and leadership record, noting that his vast experience as a scholar, researcher, and administrator will greatly benefit both the University and the wider education sector.

He commended the Governing Council for conducting a rigorous and transparent selection process, which saw Prof. Othman emerge from a pool of highly qualified candidates through merit and competence.

“Prof. Othman is a respected academic and an outstanding son of Katsina State whose contributions to agricultural research and higher education are widely acknowledged. His emergence as Vice Chancellor reflects excellence, integrity, and years of dedicated service,” the Governor said.

Governor Radda expressed confidence that under Prof. Othman’s leadership, FUDMA will witness stronger academic performance, improved research capacity, and deeper community engagement, in line with the University’s founding vision.

Prof. Othman, a proud son of Katsina State from Bindawa Local Government Area, is a renowned Agricultural Engineer and an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained his first, second, and third degrees. He has served in various capacities, including as Executive Director of the National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS), ABU Zaria, and is currently a member of the ABU Governing Council representing the Senate.

Governor Radda assured the new Vice Chancellor of his administration’s continued support and collaboration with the University toward strengthening education, research, and innovation in the state.

The Governing Council of Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), has approved the appointment of Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the University.

Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, HE Ali Abubakar Jatau, announced the appointment shortly after the 36th Special Meeting held at Grand Amber Hotel and Suites, Dutse, Jigawa State.

The appointment followed the submission and consideration of the Report of the Joint Council/Senate Selection Board on the Appointment of a Substantive Vice Chancellor for the University.

According to the Chairman, “the emergence of Prof. Othman followed a rigorous selection process involving 17 short listed applicants for the position”.

He said at the close of the receipt of applications for the vacant position, 28 interested candidates applied for the position, while the Search Team identified three additional candidates.

“The 17 short listed applicants, who were invited for the interview, participated in the rigorous and transparent selection process after which the selection board submitted the top three performing candidates to the Governing Council to select and approve the appointment of one of them as the Vice Chancellor”, he said.

The new Vice Chancellor, born on 22nd July, 1962, in Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, is an Agricultural Engineer from Ahmadu Bello Zaria.

He attended Bindawa primary school between 1970 and 1977, Government Secondary School, Funtua, 1977 to 1982 and School of Basic Studies, ABU Zaria, 1982 to 1983.

He was at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria between 1984 and 1988; 1997 and 2001; as well as 2003 and 2007 for his first, second and third degrees respectively.

Prof. Othman has had a distinguished career from an Assistant Lecturer to Professorship and has held different positions as teacher, researcher and administrator.

He was a one-time Executive Director of the National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and presently an internal member of the Governing Council, representing the Senate.

The new Vice Chancellor is married with nine children.

The recent sacking of Nigeria’s service chiefs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sparked intense debate, with some accusing the administration of nepotism and selective action. As a Northerner, it’s natural to seek clarity on the motivations behind these decisions.

According to the Presidency, the decision to sack the service chiefs was aimed at injecting fresh energy and direction into the Nigerian Armed Forces, not linked to any alleged coup plot. The President exercised his constitutional powers as Commander-in-Chief, citing the need for strategic renewal amidst complex security challenges.

Addressing Concerns of Nepotism.

The new appointments include General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. Notably, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retained his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

These changes reflect Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing operational effectiveness and addressing security issues across the country, including terrorism, banditry, separatist agitations, and kidnapping.

Why Not Others?.

The President’s decision to focus on the service chiefs might be attributed to their critical roles in national security and the need for cohesive leadership. The retention of Major-General Undiendeye suggests a desire for institutional stability within the security apparatus.

The sacking the service chiefs has sparked intense debate, with many wondering what’s next. The move, aimed at enhancing security, has left Northerners questioning whether National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu will be spared.

Critics argue the decision is long overdue, citing worsening insecurity in the North. The Northern Ethnic National Forum (NENF) and Northern Elders Forum have urged Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on security and overhaul his cabinet ² ³.

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has pledged full support to the family of the late human rights activist, Comrade Abiodun Aremu, who recently died in a tragic hit-and-run incident in Ogun State.

Speaking through former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, who represented him at the burial ceremony held on Thursday in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, the governor described the late activist as a courageous fighter who dedicated his life to the struggle for democracy, justice, and human rights in Nigeria.

Governor Sani extolled Comrade Aremu’s steadfastness during the dark years of military dictatorship, noting that his sacrifices and resilience contributed immensely to the democratic freedom Nigerians enjoy today.

“Comrade Aremu was a man of conviction and courage who stood on the side of truth, even in the face of intimidation and persecution. His contributions to the pro-democracy struggle will never be forgotten,” Governor Uba Sani stated.

The burial ceremony attracted a large turnout of prominent activists and civil society leaders from across the country, including Chief Femi Falana (SAN), Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, and representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and Trade Union Congress (TUC), as well as veteran student leaders such as Segun Maiyegun.

In his tribute, Chief Femi Falana (SAN) described the deceased as “one of Nigeria’s most consistent and principled activists,” recalling how he was imprisoned during the pro-democracy struggle and led campaigns for the release of detained rights icons such as Chief Gani Fawehinmi and Dr. Beko Ransome-Kuti.

Other speakers reflected on shared moments from the 1990s struggles, recalling how Uba Sani, then an activist himself, coordinated the activities of the Campaign for Democracy (CD) and worked closely with Comrade Aremu and other movement leaders in the fight against military rule.

They also commended the Kaduna governor for standing by the family of his late comrade, describing the gesture as a demonstration of genuine solidarity and enduring commitment to the ideals of social justice.

Governor Sani, in his message, urged the younger generation to emulate Comrade Aremu’s passion for justice, courage in the face of adversity, and unwavering commitment to the enthronement of true democracy in Nigeria.

Late Comrade Abiodun Aremu, was the Secretary of the Joint Action Front (JAF) — the umbrella body for pro-labour civil society organisations — reportedly died on October 12 after being knocked down by a vehicle near his residence in Ota, Ogun State. He was 65 years old.

On a cold and crisp December morning, on Christmas Day, some decades ago in the old North-Western State, present day Sokoto State, a certain family named Musa rejoiced at the birth of a bouncing baby boy who would later become instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s security narrative, becoming one of the greatest men, not just in the Nigerian Armed Forces, but in Nigeria at large. He was named Christopher.

General Christopher Gwabin Musa began life in humble surroundings, yet with a destiny that would take him to the highest echelons of the Armed Forces.

In the late 80s during his days in the Nigerian Defence Academy, I could only imagine a young cadet full of idealism and determination, rising at dawn for drills and excelling in his academic pursuits. He realized early on that true service comes with sacrifice, but it also earns deep respect and pride.

Over the years, General CG Musa steadily built his impeccable career step by step, moving from the battlefield to the command room. He started out as a young officer on the front lines, leading men with courage and discipline. I could imagine his early days being filled with long marches, sleepless nights, and tough decisions, the kind that test both strength and character.

As time went on, his leadership skills began to shine. He held the position of Commanding Officer 73 Battalion where his calm confidence and sense of duty earned him the respect of his soldiers. Later, he was appointed as the Assistant Director Operational Requirements at the Department of Army Policy and Plans, and as Infantry Representative/Member Training Team at Headquarters Nigerian Army Armour Corps. What made his rise so remarkable was not luck or shortcuts, it was his steady commitment to excellence. Whether on the dusty fields of duty or behind the polished tables of command meetings, General Musa proved that true leadership is about consistency, discipline, and vision.

During his time as the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, and later as the Commander of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, it became clear that Nigeria had found in General Christopher Musa a rare blend of courage, discipline, and strategic brilliance. On the battlefield, he led with a fearless spirit, directing operations that struck deep at the heart of insurgents and terrorist strongholds. His presence alone inspired confidence among troops who saw in him not just a commander, but a leader who inspired them to victory.

Under his command, countless communities once plagued by fear began to breathe again as the tide gradually turned in favour of peace and stability. His approach was not just about force, it was about intelligence, precision, and a deep understanding of the human side of conflict. Many say his success during this period stood out as one of the brightest chapters in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.

Some of his notable contributions to peacekeeping that particularly make me see him as one of the greatest Soldier Nigeria ever had include his unmatched leadership both at home and beyond our borders. Under General Christopher Musa’s watch, Nigeria’s peacekeeping efforts have remained strong and purposeful. He ensured that our nation continued to play an active role in maintaining regional stability, sending well-trained Nigerian troops to support missions in countries like Sudan, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau etc.

Beyond the battlefield, General Musa has been a strong advocate for modernizing the Nigerian military. Under his watch, there have been deliberate efforts to introduce advanced technology, improve equipment, and strengthen the readiness of troops to face new and evolving threats. He recognizes that the wars of today are not fought with courage alone, but also with innovation, intelligence, and precision.

Equally remarkable is his belief in Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC). He has shown that true security is not only about the strength of arms but also about the trust of the people. Through community outreach, rebuilding efforts, and humanitarian gestures, he has helped mend the relationship between the military and civilians in conflict affected regions. In his leadership, soldiers are not just defenders of territory, they are partners in rebuilding peace.

Over the years, his exemplary service has not gone unnoticed. General Musa has received numerous honours and awards, including the Colin Powell Meritorious Award for Soldiering and the Nelson Mandela Exemplary Leadership Award. These recognitions are not just medals on his chest, but symbols of his dedication to peace, integrity, and humanity.

Through these remarkable contributions, I have come to see General Christopher Musa as far more than just a soldier. He is a strategist, a reformer, and a true peacebuilder, a man who does not simply react to threats, but anticipates them. As I reflect on the remarkable journey of General Christopher Gwabin Musa, from that Christmas morning in Sokoto to the pinnacle of Nigeria’s military command, I see the portrait of a man whose life defines duty, discipline, and devotion to his country. His story is not just one of military success, but of great patriotism and uncommon humility. In every stage of his service, he has proven that greatness is not found in power alone, but in the courage to serve with diligence, integrity and the compassion to lead with purpose.

Nigeria is indeed blessed to have a Soldier of his calibre, a man who continues to stand as a guardian of our peace, a protector of our unity, and a symbol of hope for generations to come.

The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi has received accolades from the Management and Staff of ECN.

This is as they described his two years in office as remarkable, full of vision, innovation, and purposeful impact in driving Nigeria’s energy transformation.

According to the congratulatory message from the ECN staff, “As Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi marks his second year in office, the Commission celebrates notable progress under his leadership. Over the past two years, he has championed key initiatives in renewable energy, sustainable power development, international collaboration, and institutional growth, positioning the ECN as a key player in advancing Nigeria’s clean energy transition.

“Under Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi’s stewardship, the Commission has achieved tremendous milestones that reflect a clear vision for sustainable development, technological advancement, and institutional excellence.

The staff, comprising of management and personnel highlighted series of notable achievements that have positively repositioned the Energy Commission of Nigeria in the energy sector, to the admiration of stakeholders.

These achievements, according to the staffers, are in tandem with the mandates of the Commission particularly as it concerns the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to take the country’s energy sector to a new level, across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

In the appointment of Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), stakeholders roundly commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the choice of this astute and result oriented energy expert and policy strategist, a visionary administrator.

The saying that a golden fish has no hiding place aptly qualifies Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi’s appointment by His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR , who was able to spot the energy poster boy, and placed him strategically where competence meets passion.

Indeed, the appointment of Dr. Abdullahi as the Director General of Energy Commission qualifies the saying of putting a round peg in a round hole.

Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi who combines academic distinction with hands-on experience in energy systems, regulation, and innovation, has variously been described by stakeholders as a key figure in shaping Nigeria’s energy future, scoring a vital point in the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which clearly aims to resuscitate and reinvigorate the country’s energy sector.

As an avid scholar who holds a master’s and a doctorate in Engineering from the prestigious University of Manchester who has also served as a Research Associate and Teaching Assistant in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Civil Engineering in same institution, Dr. Abdullahi’s penchant for excellence is distinctive and highly commendable.

As a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (MIMechE), Dr. Abdullahi has distinguished himself in ways so uncommon and achievements quite alluring.
His commitment to professional excellence and technical innovation underscores his capacity and capabilities in delivering on the mandate of the Energy Sector and the Commission generally.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Manchester, United kingdom, from 2021 to 2023, Dr. Abdullahi conducted an impactful research entitled “Assessment of the Structural Integrity,” contributing valuable insights to the field. His work was recognized and supported by the Industry Collaboration Fund, United kingdom, highlighting his commitment to advancing knowledge through industry-academia collaboration.

Dr. Abdullahi has over 14 years of experience in Nigeria’s energy sector, particularly within the oil and gas industry and is known to have spent a significant part of his career at the Department of Petroleum Resources (now the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission -NUPRC), contributing to regulatory policy, energy systems management, and sustainability initiatives.

His technical competence is further complemented by his role at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), where he engaged in research and development at the intersection of space and energy technology.

Before being appointed as Director-General of ECN, Dr. Abdullahi served as the Senior Technical Adviser to the former Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji. In that capacity, he was instrumental in shaping national policies that promoted innovation, renewable energy adoption, and scientific advancement.

His advisory role provided strategic direction for programmes aimed at building Nigeria’s technological capacity in line with global sustainability trends.

He is widely reputed to be a multi-disciplinary leader, with a systems-thinking approach to Nigeria’s energy challenges, integrating insights from engineering, space research, and policy.

Since assuming office as Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria ECN in 2023, keen observers say his leadership at the Commission is anchored in collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and a strong commitment to energy transition and security.

Dr. Abdullahi is focused on delivering sustainable, inclusive, and technology-driven energy solutions that support national development goals and align with international climate commitments.

Asides from his professional and academic accomplishments, he is also active in the politics of his country, Nigeria. He is a founding member and co-convener of The Asiwaju Group (TAG), one of the leading support groups for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also having served as Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress United Kingdom (APC UK) chapter, he is also an Executive Member of the APC UK since February 2014.

As a committed and loyal party chieftain, Abdullahi’s political engagements include membership in the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) 2023, the APC PCC Nigeria Strategic Communication Committee (2019), and the APC National Convention Sub-Committee (2022).
