Music: Black Jesus Launches Album in Abuja

Nigerian artist Okafor Alexander Junior, popularly known as Black Jesus, officially launched his latest music album ‘Equity’ in a grand event held in Abuja. The event, which took place in the early afternoon, was organized in collaboration with AfriSQuare Entertainment and attracted a lively audience of music lovers, industry insiders, and close supporters.

Born and raised in Lagos but originally from Delta State, Black Jesus has built a reputation for his deep lyricism, unique sound, and unwavering dedication to music. His journey into music began at the tender age of five, singing in his church choir and later forming a music group with friends.

Album Unveiling: A Night of Music, Storytelling

The event was more than just a music launch—it was a celebration of passion, resilience, and artistry. Black Jesus, known for blending multiple genres including Afro Hip-Hop, Rap, Reggae, R&B, Jazz, and SoulDrill, performed all 10 tracks from his album, giving the audience a firsthand experience of his creative brilliance.

His sister, who took the stage at the launch to share his story, recalled how he secretly wrote songs while pretending to study. She also credited the Chairman of AfriSQuare Entertainment, Kingsley Okafor for playing a key role in pushing Black Jesus onto the world stage.

Each song carried a profound message, from the dangers of drug abuse in “INTRO”, to the nostalgic childhood memories of “LEKE LEKE”, and the bold anthem of resilience “Your Fada”. Other tracks like “HOLY PURE WATER” and “GOOD FRIENDS” spoke about perseverance and the rarity of true friendships, while “DOLLARPOR” reflected his belief in making money with purpose rather than waste.

Following his performance, the audience was invited to vote for the two songs they believed deserved to be made into music videos. The winners were:

  • “Your Fada” – A bold, Gen Z-inspired anthem about resilience and standing strong against opposition.
  • “Dolarpor” – A song reflecting Black Jesus’ philosophy of making money with purpose rather than spending it recklessly.

A Star in His Own Lane

Black Jesus, often called “Vampire” by his peers due to his late-night creative sessions, has proven his dedication to the craft. While he admires various musicians, he remains true to his own artistic identity, drawing inspiration from nature and life experiences. Beyond his music, he holds degrees in Public Administration and Psychotherapy, a testament to his intellectual depth alongside his musical genius.

What’s Next?

The album launch was a resounding success, setting the stage for Black Jesus’ next big move in the music industry. With the backing of AfriSQuare Entertainment, his family, and a growing fan base, he is now poised to take his unique sound to a global audience.

HON ABIKE DABIRI, A FAILURE TO NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA

HON ABIKE DABIRI, A FAILURE TO NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA

Hello my fellow Nigerians in Diaspora, my name is Faduri Oluwadare Joseph aka Fadojoe, the convener of Nigerians in Diaspora Association

It is so sad that I am going to be making this video, directing it to Hon Abike Dabiri, the Honourable Ambassador for Nigerians in diaspora, who supposed to be representing Nigerians in diaspora. But for over a decade that she has been in this position, there is little or nothing to show for being Nigerian Ambassador of NIDO or NIDCOM as the case may be. NIDO is Nigerians in Diaspora Organization and NIDCOM is Nigerians in Diaspora Commission as established by the then President Olusegun Obasanjo, brought down to President Buhari and now to President Tinubu.

Since the creation of the commission, we have not felt the impact, so they failed us. Nigerians in diaspora find themselves helpless when they need their government intervention in any issue.

When Americans say God bless America, they don’t just say it for saying sake: they feel the impact of their country anywhere they are in the world. If an American needs the intervention of the government anywhere in the world, the country swiftly come to their aid and go all out to fight for their citizens: either abuse, hostage or whatever.

But what is the case when it comes to Nigerians? Either in London, Germany, Lybia and other part of the world, Nigerians are going through many things, some in horrible condition. When they are asked to go to Nigeria Embassy, they go there and nothing will come out of it. When I tell them we have an Ambassador through Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon Abike Dabiri, many of them don’t even know we have an Ambassador to Nigerians in diaspora. In America alone we have over five million Nigerians, I don’t even know if up to 500 of them are aware of Hon Abike Dabiri’s duties and roles to them. Therefore, when Nigerians have problems they don’t know who to call or where to go. That is how bad it is.

And the worst part of it is that she has the audacity to go online to malign and talk badly of Nigerians in diaspora (talking bad of them), yet these are the people she is supposed to be representing and speaking for. She is supposed to be taking the issues of the problems faced by Nigerians in diaspora home to discuss with the government and ask for ways the government can stand for them or advise that enabling environment be created for them to be able to come back home and to invest more in their country.

Why will Nigerians even be so scattered in different countries of the world if our own country is working as it supposed to be? In fact, if not for the constant support coming from Nigerians in diaspora to those at home, may be Nigerians would have been devouring their fellow Nigerians by now. This is a country I use to say, we have everything, but lack everything. We have everything to be one of the best nations in the world, but part of the worst with continuously dwindling economy.

Recently, America president slahed Nigeria with 10% tarif. What does this mean? It simply means Nigerians in diaspora will not pay more for food items viz gari, beans, rice and any food coming from Nigeria to America. But Nigeria government has said absolutely nothing about it, while other countries are slamming America back with tarif too. China gave 24%. Canada gave their own. Leaders of many nations are talking. But my country is so quiet about it. Does mean when he nothing to slam with tarif too? The Ambassador of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon Abike Dabiri is quiet. Nigerians in America that deal on selling food items from Nigeria now have to pay high tarif and nobody to fight for them.

I’ve met so many Nigerians in different parts of the world, when so of them tell me their story, it breaks my heart. These are Nigerians who are having issues outside the country and they don’t even know who to call. No Abike Dabiri to fight for them. In fact, one will ask where is Abike Dabiri’s office in America or in London or in Canada or in any part of the world? Her duties is not just to be bringing people together to organize symposium

I hereby seize this opportunity to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to turn his bream light on the activities of Hon Abike Dabiri as it has to do with, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.

We have a kindhearted woman, who brought other Nigerians foreign investors together to invested over $250 million into real estate in Nigeria only for the Honourable Minister of Work in Nigeria to destroy their investment. The investors reached out to Hon Abike Dabiri, till now, no response from her.

I met another woman in Chicago who said 50 acres of land was taken from her illegally and she has nobody to call. While people from other parts of the world have their government representatives fighting for them, but as for Nigerians, nobody is fighting for us. Rather Abike Dabiri said Nigerians in Diaspora are suffered financially, yet these are people bringing over 24 billion annually into Nigeria, in terms of different kinds of support for their family, including but not limited to support to feed their families in Nigeria. The families that the government of Nigeria’s economical failure would have subjected to untold hardship if not for the support from the diaspora.

Nigerians are hardworking people all across the world, but for Hon Abike Dabiri to tag them suffering Nigerians, is a total shame. And she owes Nigerians in diaspora apology for saying so. Because if the government had created enabling environment for businesses to thrive, Nigerians wouldn’t have been searching for greener pastures in different countries of the world.

But one thing that is certain is that Nigeria will rise again and we will have a great nation again that those who ran out of the country will return to their country. There was a time we were hearing “Ghana Must Go!” But are we still having Ghanaians scattered all over Nigeria and other countries like before again? No! They have gone back to their nation because their nation is now better than the Nigeria they were running to then. So some day, Nigeria will be better again and millions of Nigeria ready to return if there can be new Nigeria will gladly return to their country.

We are going to organize Nigerians In Diaspora Movement that will be help Nigerians in diaspora, bringing us together to support one another through the power of unity. Thank you.

I remain sincerely yours, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph aka Fadojoe,
Convener of Nigerians in Diaspora Association,
Leader of Rescue Movement for New Nigeria and
Former Presidential Aspirant under Labour Party.
