RESCUE MOVEMENT FOR NEW NIGERIA SYMPATHISES WITH IBADAN PEOPLE

Rescue Movement For New Nigeria aka Rescue The Vulnerable Initiative commiserates with the victims of the unfortunate explosion that rocked the Old Bodija area of the ancient city of Ibadan, Oyo State on Tuesday night.

In a statement made available to pressmen by the National Director, Media and Publicity of the group, Rev Emmanuel Olorunmagba the group while praying that God will console the families that lost loved ones to the tragic incident, commends the governor of the state, Seyi Makinde “for the proactive measures in setting up an Emergency Operation Centre to oversee search and rescue as well as providing succour to those concerned; and dedicated numbers to reach out to the Emergency Operation Centre.”

The National Leader of the group, Comrade Faduri Oluwadare Joseph also known as Fadojoe, in his condolence message posted on his social media accounts has also expressed his “heartfelt condolences to the people of Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria for the explosion that rocked the city leaving some dead and so many injured.”

Adding that, “explosions like this for a long time have reduced in our nation, and this time, so hard time is not the time we ever expect such calamity of this nature in a nation where people are barely trying to survive, where insecurity is zero, where kidnapping is at its peak and where hunger is killing the populace faster than sickness.”

He prayed that God gives those who lost loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss and those who injured quick recovery.

He concluded by imploring “the government of Oyo State to help people rebuild and repair homes and businesses affected by this explosion” as a way the government can show serious care to the people in addition to the proactive measures taken already.

ONSA N32b Budget for New Building  Apt, Says Transparency Group

ONSA N32b Budget for New Building Apt, Says Transparency Group

, Says Secured Personnel, Operations Offices Important to Fighting Insecurity

Group under aegis of Forum for Transparency and Good Governance rose in defense of the sum of N31.915 billion budget for the construction of new buildings of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

According to the group, the N32 billion new NSA buildings is not an issue of misplacement of priority, considering the need for conducive environment for effective intelligence gathering and operations. More so , that the National Security Advisor, Malam Nuhu Ribadu is renowned for transparency, accountability and due diligence in management of public office and funds during his days as EFCC boss.

In a press statement signed by Mal Garba Ibrahim Gimba , the Coordinator of Forum for Transparency and Good Governance, the group said information gathered revealed that the security challenges facing Nigeria today is far beyond field operations. Noting ,there is no doubt  that combined military operations have not yielded required results over the years.

The statement further reads: “We believe part of reasons for building more offices for ONSA  in the face of soaring security threats is to put in place sustainable measures to protect people, assets, and information from physical and digital threats.

“Reports in the increase in number of kidnappings and bandits’ attacks on citizens and local farmers across  the country , these recurring cases call for a proactive intelligence gathering via technology driven approach if we want  lasting solutions  .

“Overall, security officers are tasked with securing the country , citizens by staying on patrol, monitoring surveillance equipment, performing building inspections, guards to avoid security lapse, thus the  new building for ONSA according  to information gathered, will ensure a safe environment through a team effort of diligent active patrol, strict access control, monitoring, and equipment control.

  • “This is why we see those who described the allocation for the NSA’s new buildings as misplaced priority as  either trying to find unnecessary fault lines or ignorant about the important of a permanent working and documentary space for intelligence gathering officers.

“We make bold to say ,you can’t have an effective operations, proper intelligence gathering and decisive response to detect and rid our society of the daredevil insurgents and bandits without a place conducive for proper planning and strategy.

“Though Some civil society organisations (CSOs) and security experts have challenged the rational behind  voting such huge amount of money for new NSA buildings, Nigeria cannot to repeat same mistake often and often.

“For Nigeria to conquer the recurring cases of banditry and terrorism, the bar for intelligence gathering and operations must go beyond what is obtainable presently.

“There suggestions  from CSOs that  the funds should rather be used to equip and empower the military agencies, especially the police, in order to tackle the deteriorating security challenge in the country, but  the question is,what have we achieved with past budgetery allocations to dame agencies?

“For the purpose proper view of the ONSA  budget , we refer to Daily Trust report, which said,  N65,002,523, 046 allocated to the ONSA in the 2024 budget, N34.9 billion is for capital expenditure; while N30 billion is for recurrent expenditure.

“Out of the N30 billion, overhead cost is N18 billion while personnel cost is N12 billion.N1.4bn earmarked for police arms.

“The budget also revealed the ONSA budgeted N1.4 billion for the Nigeria Police Force’s arms and ammunition, including protective gears such as bullet proof vests and helmets.

“The item, with the code ERGP4103042 in the fiscal document, indicated that N443, 364,563.59 was meant for protective gear; and N1 billion was for arms and ammunition.

“The ONSA also set aside N8.5 billion for subscription to professional bodies and another N2.135 billion for security charges, with N105 million to pay office rent and N182.9 million for residential rent.

“The  budget also include N5.4 billion for security operations, N52.2 million for cleaning and fumigation services, N136.1 million for fueling of vehicles, N112.9 million for “other transport equipment fuel cost”, N172.9 million for fuelling of generators, N27.7 million for bank charges and N41.2 million for welfare packages.”

Get your PVCs

Amb. Idah Onyilokwu Kingsley David

ceo@iq-ihrap.org, idahdavid@gmail.com

The future of any people cannot be separated from their youths. Whenever the pre-occupation of youth anywhere neglects issues centring on their future, the destiny of such a people is certainly questionable and under severe threats.

Now, I want to talk both my activism to get youths to take their future more seriously by initiating and managing joint group activities that see their aims and objectives through; the reactions and objections I have received and how all these have shaped my determination.

First let me briefly explain a few of the main terms involved:
Who is youth?

The youth is everyone within the active population segment. This is NOT a biology class: we are focused on how to get things done. As Africans I find out that we are deliberately under some kind of spell in attempting to see all things through a small narrow primary lens: elsewhere across the world, every working operational sector see things only in the ways that benefit their work!

We in the development and governance improvement sector know that for as long as you are still productive and active in your community, you are youthful or young at heart. Simple.

Next is the issue of the future. One question NEVER asked by most Africans remains ‘what am I even stressing for?’ Most Africans have this set-back engraved at the back of their minds walking the streets daily while seemingly pursuing their interests knowing full-well they expect nothing to improve!

This engravement indeed already has a majority of our nominal population of youth in their ‘graves’! – so to speak. We mostly look forward to a rather short life nowadays – shorter than did our parents! Some say we are not to blame and that this is caused by our increasingly hopeless existence: we just have life, merely exist and have absolutely NO dreams, no joy and NO HOPE. Quite sadly so (please think about the mindset that African youths have which remains undeterred from almost certain death in the Mediterranean or other high seas or deserts or human organ harvesting camps, etc. when they still set out and embark on those death trips notwithstanding!).

Indeed, we are surrounded by such debilitating accounts of continually decreasing hope at every turn but still: it is only the dead that do not anticipate change and hence do nothing to achieve change. In our case, we still MUST work towards change and yes, I will focus on what such CHANGE ought to be and perhaps the reasons why we are largely unable to more clearly define it until perhaps, now.
Now then still on the topic, our future as it pertains to youth and who the youth ought to be, I want to assure everyone that this is US: these things concern and touch all of US: if anyone tells me I am no longer youth,

I will point such a person to my very young children or relatives and other dependents. If the old amongst us cared so little about the future, why do they keep investing in educating the young? Then again, my favourite; when non-deep thinkers begin to worry near me about my concerns for young people and how I might NOT be good enough to engineer their lives as much as they could by theirselves, and that this should be enough reasons to leave this work for the youths,

I ask them only one short simple question. I asked them: have you ever watched a cartoon strip on television before ever in your life? The answer is usually, Yes, of-course! – who hasn’t? Then I ask them again: Do you see how very little children are unable to resist cartoons, do you imagine ever in your life that cartoons are composed written and produced by toddlers or very young children? Similarly, when you see toys and the very many articles or things that youths find irresistible, do you imagine that kids or youths own the factories that design and produce such things?

Now the point I am trying to make here is simply that we as Africans NEED to understand that in everything in life, SPECIALISATION cannot be overlooked! As simplistic as for instance, raring chickens can be, a difference emerges whenever someone with basic training undertakes it.

Every job type ought to be accorded certain reasonable levels of respect whether drivers, truck-pushers, gardeners, … not to mention teachers, etc. etc. the lot of these are the much easily targeted workers whose salaries are so mercilessly embezzled by public officials all across Africa! This is a topic for another opportunity.

Now, but to the future and our youth …
As things stand today, all governments across Africa need nothing but support and I want to quickly qualify what I mean by this term, support, before anyone tears me up out of frustration: the sort of support I mean here is the one that comes from the coming together of populations to make sure the things that concern them make sense and come out as precisely required as possible. This can be achieved in the following consequential manner:

First; we need to accept that it is sheer madness to keep on expecting African governments to deliver our development goals and objectives as the only possible institution to do so. We do not need any further education to understand this fact other than the usual notion ALL of us have heard repeated many many times over: the people are the government. Trust me: the last government was made up of people who were amongst us, this government is the same and the next government too will not be different.

If those amongst us go into government and do not go with adequate knowledge and experience of what our problems are and our expectations of them, how can we keep expecting them to be better than the last government?

Why are we continually unable to determine and define what our problems are which our leaders must face squarely? If such a system exists amongst us and we soon have leaders amongst us who are gradually becoming great at solving such problems – what would prevent us from electing them into public offices where they can have access to our taxes to improve our situations further with power of state and the fullest possible authority? Without such a local community level arrangement or organisation and leadership system pre-politics, we may be doomed forever!

Second; we need a new paradigm whereby everybody SHOULD belong to or STAND for something within our immediate communities and such things or issues of focus ought to be issues or focuses that pertain to governance and development: our local security, safety education, health and perhaps, power supply! Now, while this remains an initial natural default in this consideration, I have a different. – and I believe, better suggestion: let us belong to groups within our communities on the basis of our livelihoods or occupations first while we pay attention to the other here-above listed focuses, first! See? If the future we are concerned about in truth, the best and strongest vehicle going into that future are our occupations or livelihoods!

Aren’t these the very reasons why parents invest so much in educating their children and why governments invest in schools so much so that this is basically a global development and governance culture? JOBS…
Third; assuming that all the above two items and arguments are agreeable and reasonable, most people are however wont to think how impossible or impracticable such community level setting up of job-related or job-relevant groups would be.

I wish to however assure you that if at all, anyone thinks these thoughts and embraces the impossibility of community job-relevant groups, such a person is being haunted by the spirit of poverty-creation and/or poverty re-enforcement! Such a spirit operates rather intelligently by selling us the first notion that if we are not a government or set up by government, we cannot do anything to help ourselves. While we are in democracies all across Africa, we have still not appreciated that NOTHING works better on the side of voters and the rest of the people in a democracy like their coming together to act with ONE VOICE for their own good.

The politicians who are increasingly improving their craft to keep on winning and not rendering service always encourage voters to come individually … one by one .. politicians may buy votes, may deceive and may cheat when we are itemised by them individually rather than as groups. Now, I know that indeed they are various groups especially youths that form groups during elections. The politicians identify and deal with them as such groups.

But, in my experience, NONE of such groups are community based and neither are they job-relevant! I want to assure every thinker that it is on the basis of this that the global outcry against unemployment and joblessness of youth in Africa will persist because youth demonstrate a near total lack of deep thinking on how they may contribute to solving this problem especially as a lot of them do NOT that joblessness and unemployment of youth is beneficial to politicians: it is the poverty of the people that makes the people easily “buyable’’: if the people are not hungry they will be more reasonable and protect their votes the more!

If the people – although being poor become capable of organising theirselves into groups on the basis of what puts food on their table then the people become harder to ‘buy’! Bob Marley sang: “You can fool some people sometimes but you cannot fool ALL the people ALL the time” Our days of being deceived are numbered – now especially as we will soon become ALL the people – as ONE!

Votes

Yes Votes… now we are back to the very topic of this piece as it concerns youth more pertinently: even when we still talk about the protection of VOTES – we will still be foolish and helpless to assume that in the next three years in Nigeria particularly, all we can work around in the hopes of improving our lives would still be our mere VOTES!

Now let us get something very clear: I do not mean in any way to suggest that youth should neglect or ignore or tamper with the set-down legal and authorised electoral laws or system entirely in any way: ALL I am proposing remains that youths achieve the higher intelligence to make “lemonade” out of the “lemon” that the system has foisted on them. Our survival and eventual victory require no stress, no force – only intelligent solutions. This is the only way to demonstrate that youths are indeed an improvement of their parents or the older generation! This is why those benefiting from our backwardness target our educational system, institutions and general learning prospects to ruin them and hinder us from becoming thinkers and achievers! I cannot continue to imagine that our older generation politicians, – a majority of whom never saw a computer even during their secondary school and the same majority of whom do not today know their way sufficiently around a computer and the very many complicated and highly intelligent functionalities of today’s info-tech era, continually hold the greater number of our youth or younger populations, who are so computer literate and are info-tech nerds and addicts in their respective rights, to ransom depriving us of livelihoods and our entire future!

No, this is absurd and ought to make no sense to every right-thinking, progressive-minded youth.
So then, now, how do we better insist on our PVCs like we did the last time in Nigeria especially, but in ways that our outcome would be as we envisage. In other words, how can the Nigerian youth today PREVENT what happened last year 2023 from happening in 2027?
How can the youths take over?
How can the youths be different?
How can life change for the better for the African, in the seeable future?

Is anyone thinking these thoughts right now or are we just sitting and waiting for a miracle?
Are we hoping that at the right time, we will gather and announce special prayers and fasting programmes?

The answers to all these questions above are IN the very questions themselves! YES – you heard right: the answers are contained in the very situations or challenges provoking these questions.
As stated earlier, all our challenges faced today hinge on one special and central aspect of our lives connecting to our aspired destiny: our Jobs and/or livelihoods. Not only do our interests in and our activism for livelihoods at our various community levels pertinent and central to our immediate survival by presenting us best as actors within our local and extended democracies, it is strategic in ensuring that tomorrow’s youth leaders provide better more competent solution-orientated leadership because they will emerge from a school of career or job problem-solving where they had cut their teeth and have in that process become popular amongst their constituents as leaders of high worth: – dependable, trustworthy, predictable and all. This feat would be the much desired departure from our present-day predicament whereby we are forced to elect people who are totally and nearly totally UNKNOWN to us as trustworthy or dependable leaders: we have nothing to help us decide apart from what comes out of their mouths as mere promises or boasts! Now most of our people just elect whoever pays them money no matter how little since something is better than nothing – NOT caring that the same people there are electing deliberately made it so – so that it would be easier for the politicians to keep being in control to keep – keeping the people poor and helpless so that buying the people out will keep becoming easier and easier with every passing moment and need to do so! This is the worst vicious cycle in history: the wall-less imprisonment of Africans by their ruling class!

The above is the summary of what the Integral Quintessence-International Human Rights Africa Programme, IQ-IHRAP is all about; ensuring that Africa’s youths stand up for themselves to be counted based on their sheer brain-power. We encourage African youths to first decide what their natural inborn life skill, giftedness, talent or capabilities are.

Thereafter, to identify or FORM a local worker group in the name of the kind of job or livelihood chosen: we have the guidelines and methods of doing this at our official website: http://www.iq-ihrap.org or better still email: info@iq-ihrap.org or ceo@iq-ihrap.org The guidelines we provide ensure uniformity and synergy amongst so many other benefits. We provide guidance and counselling to Africans who are down-spirited already and need to be re-awakened: the suicide rate is climbing by the day everywhere across Africa: too many suicides go unreported as bereaved families feel too ashamed to file reports.

Most mainstream media organisations also do not report known cases for obvious reasons: they do not want things to be seen as worse as they already are – no matter the excuse they have!

We gratefully welcome contributions and donations from well-meaning charitably minded persons and institutions for the continuation and deepening of our work. Our sole aims remain in summary to ensure that democracy in Africa BECOMES true, natural and transparent to, first, WE the people of Africa.

This will be impossible no matter what anyone does if, first, WE, the people have no ORGANISATION and we argue further, that the first and only pertinent basis of such organisation remains our JOBS, LIVELIHOODS or occupations. Nothing else ties in with our aspirations for a brighter, better, eternally peaceful and progressive future than our JOBS or LIVELIHOODS and all the ways by which we may more capably generate or create JOB, protect JOBS, IMPORVE JOBS and TRANSFORM our JOB culture all across Africa.

But the first step remains undeniably: formation of JOB-relevant Groups at all our local levels. I do know that so many local primitive and unnatural problems exist to stymie this proposition: the truth remains that, when this is undertaken across the entire land and some form of peer review, cultural measures or instruments are introduced based on which monitoring and evaluation of leadership performance is undertaken, these problems soon peter out into insignificance and irrelevance! Moreover, this is the computer=age and we are computer children: we refuse to be tied to our problems in primitivity and ignorance: we are a jet-age, pacesetting and ambitious generation. We are smarter than our smartphones and we will use our intelligence, knowledge and opportunities to overcome and overtake the older generation no matter what their strategies of perpetrating their stranglehold on us and our children’s future are!
In the coming election seasons all across Africa, YOUTHS will not only be shouting “Get your PVCs, Get your PVCs!!!” only. No. We would have gone up a few notches in this game of chess and ahead of politicians and their installed governments that work on their side against us: no hard feelings – we are not instigating disobedience or civil disorder here. NO way. We are talking BRAINWORK – bringing intelligent solutions to the table to re-organise youths and make them an ‘uncheatable’ and “unriggable” population of VOTERS the world and history may ever know: we will go to the polling stations after having already known our strengths and whom the various youth leaders and government of tomorrow ARE! Yes – we can and we indeed, will.

People = let’s get ORGANISED now!
Thank you.

Alleged N585m Fraud : Documents reveals Betta Edu’s Adherence to Due Process

Alleged N585m Fraud : Documents reveals Betta Edu’s Adherence to Due Process

The suspended minister, Dr. Betta Edu, currently facing investigation for an alleged N585 million fraud, is said to have meticulously followed existing due processes, according to a source conversant with modern administrative procedures.

The source explained that senior officials of the Ministry, notably Halima Shehu – who handled the entire process, seemed to have disappeared from the controversy, describing the development as tactical manoeuvre and calling on President Bola Tinubu to demand further clarification on the matter.

The documents reveal Edu’s alleged involvement in a fund transaction request, approved and executed into Mrs. Bridget’s account, with sources from the Ministry confirming adherence to Financial Regulations applicable to MDAs.

The document asserts that the suspended minister adhered to established processes within the humanitarian ministry, supported by Financial Regulations for MDAs.

Another document shares details of the 2021 FG’s payment to project accountant personal accounts in MDAs, highlighting Mrs. Bridget’s role in overseeing financial activities related to the program.

Despite financial regulations binding MDA transactions, the released documents argue that the minister’s actions align with established procedures, emphasizing Mrs. Bridget’s duty to manage funds disbursement and retirements under the specified regulations.

The funds in question were said to be intended for beneficiaries under Mrs. Bridget’s monitoring and supervision through a payment system. Notably, Mrs. Bridget, an Assistant Director and civil servant in the ministry, is stated to be unrelated to Dr. Betta.

The source from the ministry defends Mrs. Bridget, asserting that the payment request process was well-established, insisting there was no illegality involved.

The source argues that the controversy appears to be a trap set to tarnish the image of the government, emphasizing that no money is missing and the program’s transactions were successful. The source questions the call for Dr. Betta Edu’s resignation, pointing out her proactive reporting of a missing 44 billion from the NSIPA account, with a subsequent recovery of 39.8 billion.

The source contends that the minister’s commitment is driven by a desire to serve and achieve President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s poverty-alleviation plans, dismissing accusations of fraudulent intentions. The narrative underscores Dr. Betta Edu’s dedication to breaking records and her courage in pursuing the government’s goals despite challenges.

According to the source from the ministry: “She has done nothing illegal, it was just a trap which I believe she’s going to survive. The process by which she requested the payment to Mrs Bridget, was already established in the ministry, there are regulations for it within the ministry and all MDAs have been using it over the decades. So it’s not that Edu had bad intentions nor did the destination account associated with her, but I think some individuals just want to use her to embarrass the government. People that are after her position took advantage of the situation and the target is to tarnish the image of the government.

“What people are ignoring is that, is money missing? No. Did the program carry out the transactions successfully? Yes.

“So why call for her head?
Was the 44 billion missing from the NSIPA account in the space of one week, as she reported to the appropriate authorities for further investigation, stolen? Yes

“And 39.8 billion has been recovered so far, back from the perpetrators and paid back into the government account? Yes.

“This document and regulation process should let Nigerians know that she’s not associated with any intention of fraud in this government. Edu is just a young woman willing to serve, break records in this government, and achieve President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s plans to pull millions of Nigeria out of Poverty, which many are scared of her courage and hardworking spirit,”the source said

The source also urged President Tinubu to check the activities of old brigade politicians working against “the brilliant new breed appointees in his administration”

Fadojoe commends president Tinubu on the new Int’l Passport Policy, Humanitarian Ministry probe, as he raised alarm last year November

Fadojoe commends president Tinubu on the new Int’l Passport Policy, Humanitarian Ministry probe, as he raised alarm last year November.

Comrade Faduri Oluwadare Joseph (FADOJOE), the national leader of Rescue Movement For New Nigeria aka Rescue The Vulnerable Initiative, who in a statement made available to pressmen, precisely November 16, 2023; had raised alarm over what he alleged then as “immigration racketeering” resulting in Nigerians been exploited during the process of obtaining International Passport and on other issues bordering on corruption in governance.

But in another statement made available to pressmen in Kaduna State, on Thursday January 11, 2024 by the National Director of Media and Publicity for the group, the activist popularly called Fadojoe has commended the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) led federal government of Nigeria for the prompt response in the implementation of the policy that will ensure effective curbing of any kind of racketeering, as relate to the issue of International Passport; which resulted in an International Passport processing portal been officially released to the public on Monday, January 8, 2024; as well as the suspension and probe of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Chimaobim Edu.

“Opposition is not just about criticism, but when the government gets it right, there is need to commend such efforts, if truly what we are after is good governance. On this note, the leadership and the entire members of Rescue Movement For New Nigeria aka Rescue The Vulnerable Initiative, hereby commend the President Bola Tinubu led administration on the new policy for International Passport seamless processing.

“Those following our various statements always made available to pressmen for both mainstream and new media, will recall that on 16th November, 2023 I had raised alarm that Nigerians are been exploited during the process of International Passport and in some of our statements, we had raised lamentation over the gross corruption bedeviling our dear country, Nigeria.

“All Nigerians following the trend of events in Nigeria will agree that the handling of the International Passport processing and the suspension and probe of Betta Edu deserve commendation.”

Fadojoe thus, called on the present government to do more to make Nigerians proud of their country. “This commendation doesn’t mean that everything has fallen in line yet, because there is still many ground to cover if Nigerians must enjoy good governance. And we urge president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and members of his cabinet to give their best in delivery of dividends of democracy as the country has sank too deep and needs to be rescued as a matter of urgency.

It is of note that, the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, had announced in December that the Federal Government was working to ensure a full automation system of passport application in the country. This came to fruition on Monday January 8, 2024 as the, the Minister launched the first online portal for Nigerian International Passport application in Abuja.

This online portal has made the processing of International Passport seamless that any Nigerian can now apply for his/her International Passport online, pay the exact required fee online and book for capturing appointment without passing through any middle person or any immigration officer.

Also Betta Chimaobim Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation was on Tuesday January 9, 2024 invited by the EFCC for questioning over the controversial approval she was alleged ti have given for payment of about N585 million of public money into a personal bank account and she was suspended to face probe and the Permanent Sectary, Enitan takes over.

Group Defends Interior Minister, Tunji-Ojo over Contact Scandal, says Company Has Right to do Business

… Tells Tinubu to shun detractors

Group under aegis of Forum for Transparency and Good Governance (FTGG) has come out strongly to defend the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, over his involvement in an alleged N438.1 million consultancy contract between New Planet Project Limited and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation under the suspended Minister, Betta Edu.

According to the group, since documents revealed that the Interior Minister resigned as a Director of New Planet Project Limited in 2019, it would amount to witch-hunting  to link him to the contract scandal.

The group, which explained reasons for defending the Minister in a press statement signed by Dr. Mustapha Ahmed Malumfashi said it is unfair and ridiculous to link the Minister to the alleged contact scam, when he resigned from the company on 4th February,2019  after he won election into the House of Representatives  with a Certified True Copy of Corporate Affairs Commission as far back as 2019 to prove this.

The statement further reads : “But Tunji-Ojo, who reacted while appearing on Channels TV Politics Today on Monday night, agreed  he co-founded the company ten years ago, but resigned from directorship.

“The Minister, who described the report as shocking, did say he was not involved in the day-to-day running of New Planet Project Limited and all that is expected is to confirm the veracity of his claim.

“However, form our investigation, Tunji-Ojo ,who in our estimation has being doing well since appointed as minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu didn’t benefited from Edu’s alleged fake N3 billion social register contract.

“We have seen legitimate documents which showed that the interior minister resigned as a director at New Planet Project Limited nearly five years ago.

“Our investigation further revealed that New Planet Project Limited, with registration number 804833, was said to have been registered on March 3, 2009 with a Certified True Copy of the Corporate Affairs Commission documents  obtained ,dated August 8, the minister had alongside four others resigned as directors on February 1, 2019.

“Section A contained names of “directors ceasing to hold office” from February 1, 2019. They included Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Abimbola Tunji-Ojo, Okpanachi George Echiye, Idris Shuaibu, and Hassan Suleiman.

“The document was signed by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Akinmulewo Amos Oladapo as Director and Director/Secretary/Authorised officer, respectively and it  was further presented for filing at the CAC by one Abu Dennis, on February 6, 2019.

He confirmed during the interview with Channels that he co-founded the New Planet Project with his wife 15 years ago but resigned and  remained a shareholder in the company.

“Of course,  public service rules do not prohibit public officers from being shareholders. What public service rules say is that you cannot be a director of which I had resigned about five years ago.”

Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended Edu over corruption allegations on Monday.

Shortly after Edu’s suspension, reports emerged that the Minister paid a company owned by the Minister of Interior a total amount of N438.1 million for consultancy services.

“We therefore urge the President to summon  the Minister of Interior, Tunji-Ojo, over his alleged involvement of the controversial N438 million contract scandal involving the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.”
