Standing for Truth, Party Integrity, and the Nigerian GrassrootsSpeaker: Professor Kailani Muhammad, Director General, Confederation of APC Support Groups

Standing for Truth, Party Integrity, and the Nigerian GrassrootsSpeaker: Professor Kailani Muhammad, Director General, Confederation of APC Support Groups

Date: Tuesday, May 19, 2026Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Good afternoon, gentlemen of the press, and my dedicated leaders and members of our great support structures across the nation. We have just concluded a vital national general meeting, a gathering of minds born out of our deep concern for our party, the All Progressives Congress, and the welfare of our beloved country.

Looking at all of you in this room, I cannot help but take a brief walk down memory lane. I want us to remember where we started, because a man who forgets where the rain began to beat him will not know where he dried his body.

In 2022, we laid the foundation of this formidable movement with the Tinubu Shettima Network, popularly known as TSN. We gathered thousands of passionate support groups from every corner of this country. Together, we organized the historic “Walk-the-Talk” campaign, where more than 50,000 patriotic Nigerians marched shoulder-to-shoulder, putting their feet on the pavement to declare their unwavering faith in the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.

When internal leadership disputes and bitter crises threatened to rip the Amalgamated APC Support Groups apart, I was called upon to step in and save the day. I took up that mantle and stabilized the ship to the absolute best of my ability. I stood before our teeming members and gave a firm directive: “Stand firm, stay focused, and do not look back until we see this administration win the 2023 general election.”

And we did exactly that. We delivered that victory through sacrifice, sweat, and sheer determination, without receiving a single Kobo from anyone. We all know the painful history of what happened next. Everyone remembers the deep betrayal when Maryam Dan Jaki single-handedly carted away the ₦100 million intervention that was meant to support the Amalgamated groups from Alhaji Kashim Imam. It was a massive blow that sent things south and fractured the trust of hard-working groups who had given everything to the party. But as a leader, I refuse to let despair win.

That trial is exactly what led me to establish the Confederation of APC Support Groups immediately after the 2023 elections, to create a clean, transparent, and unshakeable home for real loyalists. And from that platform, we launched a massive campaign supporting Senator Abdul’aziz Yari for the Senate Presidency, demonstrating our continuous commitment to democratic fairness and party strength.

This brings me directly to the current state of our nation and a bitter truth we must confront. Nobody ever calls on the Confederation anymore. Nobody thinks about calling the support groups into the room to discuss the party’s direction, nor does anyone think about rewarding the immense efforts we have made.

Up until this moment, this government has not truly recognized or appreciated the immense sacrifices that the support groups, and my leadership, put into bringing this administration to life. But despite this lack of recognition, despite being left out in the cold after working tirelessly, I want to assure everyone of one thing: we, the support groups, will continue to support this government.

We did not fight for a temporary reward; we fought for the progress of Nigeria, and we remain committed to seeing this administration succeed for the sake of our people. However, as a leader who lives among the people, I cannot close my eyes to the realities on the ground. Our country is facing severe challenges.

The rising inflation is squeezing the life out of the common man, and insecurity continues to threaten our communities. While we support this government, we are also calling on it to urgently find a soft landing for everyday Nigerians.

I worked day and night, using every resource and connection at my disposal, to ensure this administration succeeded at the polls. Precisely because I gave my all, I cannot sit back, fold my arms, and keep quiet while things deteriorate. True loyalty means speaking the truth to power so that we can correct our course before the nation sinks into a deeper quagmire.Unfortunately, because of my outspokenness and my call for national reflection, some elements within our own ranks have resorted to cheap propaganda and malice.

They are circulating rumors across social media and political circles claiming that I am no longer with the APC or that I have decamped to another party. This is an utter lie, born out of pure wickedness and political desperation.

I am a pillar of this party, and I am not going anywhere.Worse still, these same detractors have gone ahead to accuse me, Professor Kailani, of religious bigotry. And what is my offense? My only offense is that I courageously stated the hard facts behind the allegations raised by the U.S. President and members of the American Congress regarding claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria.

Because I took my time to call on our government to carefully look into these serious things so our nation does not fall into a deeper crisis, they choose to twist my words. I spoke purely out of love for this country and a desire for peace, yet they turn around to label me a bigot.

Let it be known today: the Confederation of APC Support Groups remains the vanguard of this party. We will not be silenced by blackmail, nor will we allow malicious lies to derail the vision we marched for. I gave my full might to bring this administration to power, and I have earned the right to speak the truth. Even when our efforts go unrecognized, our loyalty to the progress of Nigeria remains rock-solid. We support our party leadership, we demand relief for our citizens, and we stand together for a united and prosperous nation.

Thank you all, and may God bless the All Progressives Congress and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

THE QUINTESSENTIAL PUBLIC SERVANT: DR. MUSTAPHA ABDULLAHI AND THE BURDEN OF NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

WEEKEND EDITORIAL

THE QUINTESSENTIAL PUBLIC SERVANT: DR. MUSTAPHA ABDULLAHI AND THE BURDEN OF NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

By Musa-Ododo Abdulrahaman.

Nations are not built by political rhetoric alone. They are built by institutions, sustained by vision, and strengthened by men and women who understand that public office is not a platform for personal relevance, but a responsibility to serve.

At critical moments in national history, leadership within strategic public institutions often determines whether countries move toward progress or remain trapped by unrealised potential.

For Nigeria, that moment is now. As the nation confronts the interconnected challenges of energy security, industrial expansion, infrastructure development, technological modernisation, and economic transformation, the quality of leadership within its institutions has become more consequential than ever.

Among those attracting increasing national attention is Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, a strategic institution positioned at the heart of Nigeria’s long-term development agenda.

Energy remains the lifeblood of modern civilisation. No nation can industrialise sustainably, compete globally, or secure economic resilience without coherent energy planning and institutional coordination.

This reality makes the Energy Commission a key national priority, especially as global conversations on renewable innovation, energy transition, and industrial competitiveness shape nations’ futures.

Under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and the broader Renewed Hope agenda, there has been a growing emphasis on institutional reform, strategic governance, and long-term national planning.

Within this framework, observers have increasingly noted the Energy Commission’s visibility and operational engagement under Dr Abdullahi as evidence of leadership grounded in institutional relevance and developmental purpose.

A true public servant understands that governance is ultimately about stewardship, protecting public trust, strengthening systems, and delivering outcomes that outlive political cycles. Such leaders do not merely occupy offices; they build institutions that function more effectively, think more strategically, and serve more efficiently.

Supporters of Dr Abdullahi argue that his leadership reflects these qualities, marked by policy engagement, strategic coordination, and a commitment to elevating national discourse around energy development.

Yet beyond individual recognition lies a broader national lesson. Nigeria must become more intentional about recognising competence, professionalism, and disciplined service within public institutions.

A nation that celebrates controversy but ignores diligence risks weakening the very foundations of good governance.

History shows that the strongest nations were built not only by elected leaders, but by disciplined public servants who understood the gravity of national responsibility.

Strong institutions outlive political transitions. They preserve continuity, sustain reforms, and protect developmental momentum.

As Nigeria moves through a defining period, energy, innovation, and infrastructure institutions must stay focused on competence, accountability, and strategic vision.

Public scrutiny will always accompany leadership, and accountability remains essential in any democratic system. But accountability must be balanced with fairness, due process, and responsible national discourse.

Ultimately, the true measure of leadership is not found in titles, publicity, or political visibility. It is found in institutional impact, national contribution, administrative discipline, and the legacy one leaves in service to society.

In a statement issued shortly after the exercise, Umar Abubakar described the support he received across the six Area Councils of the FCT as encouraging and inspiring, despite the outcome of the primaries not favouring his aspiration.

He said the experience had further strengthened his commitment to the unity, growth and success of the party both in the FCT and across the country.

“I wish to sincerely appreciate every supporter, stakeholder, youth group, women leaders, political associates and party faithful who stood by us throughout this journey. Your sacrifices, encouragement, prayers and unwavering support remain invaluable and will never be taken for granted,” he stated.

The aspirant also congratulated candidates who emerged victorious in the primaries, urging them to remain magnanimous in victory and committed to the collective interest of the party and the development of the FCT.

“The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is real, impactful and gradually repositioning Nigeria for greater prosperity.

The FCT must not be left behind in supporting the President and our great party in 2027,” he said.

Smear Campaign: Who Is Afraid of Dr Mustapha Abdullahi’s Rising Political Profile?

Smear Campaign: Who Is Afraid of Dr Mustapha Abdullahi’s Rising Political Profile?

The recent media reports alleging the arrest of the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged N500 billion fraud have exposed what appears to be a calculated smear campaign aimed at tarnishing the image of a rising public figure known for his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his growing grassroots influence among Nigerian youths.

Contrary to sensational reports circulating across some media platforms, Dr Abdullahi was neither arrested nor detained by the EFCC. Multiple reports confirmed that he merely honoured an invitation by the anti-graft agency in line with due process and respect for constituted authority.

A statement issued by his media team clarified that the ECN boss voluntarily responded to the EFCC’s invitation and was not arrested as falsely portrayed in several publications.

However, despite this clarification, sections of the media rushed to publish alarming headlines suggesting guilt even before any formal findings or charges had been made public.

Observers say the development bears the familiar signs of politically motivated blackmail often deployed against public officials who command growing popularity and political relevance ahead of major electoral cycles.

In recent months, Dr Abdullahi has emerged as one of the prominent voices mobilising young Nigerians in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the possible second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. His youth engagement efforts and expanding political network across several states have reportedly unsettled certain interests uncomfortable with his rising profile.

Supporters of the ECN boss insist that responding to an invitation by a law enforcement agency should not be twisted into a media conviction or used to destroy reputations through coordinated misinformation.

They argue that anti-corruption institutions must be allowed to carry out investigations professionally without political actors and sensational headlines weaponising routine procedures for propaganda purposes.

The situation has also sparked concerns about the growing trend of trial-by-media in Nigeria, where public officials are declared guilty in headlines long before investigations are concluded or any court pronouncement is made.

Political analysts note that in a democratic society governed by the rule of law, invitations for questioning are not equivalent to convictions, adding that public discourse must remain guided by facts, fairness, and due process.

For many of Dr Abdullahi’s supporters, the question remains: why the desperation to criminalise a man whose only visible political offence appears to be his vocal support for President Tinubu and his growing acceptance among young Nigerians?

Confederation of APC Support Groups Endorses Shehu Sani for Kaduna Central Senate Seat

Confederation of APC Support Groups Endorses Shehu Sani for Kaduna Central Senate Seat

The Confederation of APC Support Groups has declared its support for former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, describing him as the most credible and people-oriented choice for the senatorial district ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during a press briefing, the Director General of the group, Prof. Kailani Muhammad, said the people of Kaduna Central needed “a voice that roars for the common man” rather than a representative disconnected from grassroots realities.

According to him, the endorsement followed extensive consultations across the seven local government areas of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, including Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Chikun, Kajuru, Kaduna North and Kaduna South.

Prof. Muhammad said Shehu Sani’s previous tenure in the Senate between 2015 and 2019 demonstrated courage, transparency and commitment to the welfare of ordinary citizens.

He recalled that the former senator distinguished himself nationally as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, where he opposed what he described as unsustainable borrowing.

“He was the Senator who told the truth when it was difficult to say. He stood against policies and loans that would have burdened future generations with debt they did not ask for,” he stated.

The APC support groups’ leader further praised Shehu Sani for becoming the first Nigerian senator to publicly disclose the running costs and salaries of lawmakers, saying the move broke the long-standing culture of secrecy in the National Assembly.

He also credited the former senator with publicly declaring his assets while in office, describing the gesture as a strong example of accountability and integrity in public service.

On constituency projects, Prof. Muhammad said the former lawmaker facilitated the construction and equipping of several primary healthcare centres across Kaduna Central, especially in underserved rural communities.

He added that over 200 solar-powered boreholes and hand-pump wells were installed in communities across Birnin Gwari, Chikun and Kajuru to address water shortages.

According to him, Shehu Sani also initiated the installation of solar streetlights in several wards to improve security and stimulate economic activities at night.

The group noted that the former senator renovated and constructed classroom blocks in public schools across the district while also empowering youths and women through the distribution of sewing machines, grinding machines and motorcycles.

Prof. Muhammad further stated that widows, orphans and internally displaced persons benefited from food support, clothing assistance and financial grants through the former senator’s constituency programmes.

Speaking on security, he said the former lawmaker supported local vigilante groups in banditry-prone areas such as Birnin Gwari and Giwa with patrol vehicles and communication equipment.

He also commended Shehu Sani’s role in peace-building efforts and conflict resolution across Kaduna State, describing him as “a human rights crusader and veteran activist who has consistently stood for justice and the oppressed.”

The group maintained that the return of the former senator to the National Assembly would strengthen advocacy for the people of Kaduna Central and align with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the ruling APC administration.

“We are not just supporting a candidate; we are supporting a legacy of activism, accountability and grassroots representation,” Prof. Muhammad said.

He called on APC support groups and party loyalists across the senatorial district to mobilise support at the ward and community levels ahead of the party primaries and the 2027 general elections.

“Let us bring back the man who has always been the voice for the voiceless. Let us return Shehu Sani to the Red Chamber so that Kaduna Central can once again become the heartbeat of advocacy in Nigeria,” he added.

EXCLUSIVE: Panic in Oyo APC as Leaked Abuja ‘Hijack’ Plot Unmasks Alleged Bribery Scandal

EXCLUSIVE: Panic in Oyo APC as Leaked Abuja ‘Hijack’ Plot Unmasks Alleged Bribery Scandal

ABUJA — A major political crisis is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following revelations of a high-stakes clandestine meeting held in Abuja on Monday evening.

While official party channels described the gathering as a “routine consultation” on primary modalities, deep-cover sources have leaked details of a ruthless blueprint allegedly designed to hijack the 2027 Oyo State primary elections.

The plot reportedly centers on the alleged forceful installation of a “pre-approved” list of candidates loyal to Dr. Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS).

The most staggering revelation from the sit-down is the alleged introduction of cash inducement.

Sources alleged that Tayo Koleosho, Chief of Staff to the NRS Chairman, arrived at the meeting with the alleged funds intended to secure the “unwavering cooperation” of the Oyo State Working Committee (SWC); the party national Chairman and Secretary respectively.

The financial package reportedly covered luxury accommodations at top Abuja hotels, private jet logistics, and “operational support” to ensure the state executive organ suppresses any internal opposition to the anointed list.

In a move that has already sparked a firestorm among party faithful, only three “favored” aspirants were reportedly permitted into the inner sanctum of the meeting:
Barr. Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (Governorship)
Senator Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central)
Hon. Remi Oseni (Oyo South).

The exclusion of other contenders; most notably Chief Adebayo Adelabu and Senator Fatai Buhari has been interpreted by insiders as a declaration of internal war.

Leaked proceedings suggest the group discussed a four-pronged strategy to ensure a “clean sweep” during the primaries: like
Voter Register Cleansing by Strategically removing names of members loyal to rival factions and Deploying “handpicked” supervisors to manage accreditation and results at the grassroots.

Other include claiming the plot has the full backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cow dissenters this leveraging national connections to ensure security agencies overlook “irregularities” in volatile zones.

The meeting was not without drama as Sunday Babalola (State Welfare Officer) and Barrister Aborishade (State Legal Officer) reportedly raised red flags, warning that an imposition of this magnitude would lead to “electoral suicide” and a wave of litigation that could disqualify the party entirely, as seen in previous Zamfara and Rivers scenarios.

However, the resistance was allegedly quelled when Oyo APC Chairman, Chief Alake Adeyemo, emerged from a private session with the National Chairman to inform the committee that the “plan is final” and they must “find a way” to deliver the results.

The meeting revealed a shifting of the guards as a frontline Philantropist and Abuja-based businessman, Alhaji Abdulwasiu Adebisi and another kinsman from Oyo, Engr. Idris Adeoye, a former staunch loyalist of Senator Teslim Folarin, were promised mouth-watering contracts after the election.

Sources claim Adebisi and Adeoye were lured into the Adedeji camp with the promise of a N1 trillion “Renewed Hope” road contract, signaling a massive realignment of the state’s political machinery.

As news of the “Abuja Accord” filters back to Ibadan, the atmosphere is electric with tension. Most dangerously for the conspirators, secret audio recordings of the meeting are said to be in the possession of disgruntled attendees, with threats of a public leak looming.

“What we saw in Abuja was not politics; it was a commercial transaction for the soul of Oyo State,” said an APC National Secretariat source who requested anonymity.

With the “Preferred List” now allegedly in the hands of the NRC Chairman’s inner circle, the party sits on a powder keg. Whether the APC can survive this internal “hijack” or if it will lead to a mass exodus to opposition parties remains the N40 trillion question.

Sources hinted further that “major source of anger within APC circles is the repeated claim that these actions allegedly reflect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s wishes.

“Several stakeholders insist this is false and misleading, noting that genuine presidential directives would require transparent stakeholder engagement—not secretive bribery meetings. Perhaps most explosively, insiders claim portions of the meeting were secretly recorded and may soon be released publicly.

“Should audio evidence emerge, it could trigger one of the biggest internal scandals in APC’s recent history.”

He raised concern over the integrity of the national chairman and other national executives of the party asking; “Is APC in Oyo preparing for democratic victory—or engineering political self-destruction?”

“As tension rises, party faithfuls await urgent intervention from President Tinubu, APC elders, and security agencies before mistrust, rebellion, and chaos consume the party’s structure in one of Nigeria’s most politically strategic states. If even half of these allegations prove true, Oyo APC may not just be facing a primary crisis—it may be standing on the edge of political implosion” he concluded.

NIGERIA AND JORDAN SIGN MOU TO STRENGTHEN DEFENCE COOPERATION AND INTELLIGENCE SHARING

NIGERIA AND JORDAN SIGN MOU TO STRENGTHEN DEFENCE COOPERATION AND INTELLIGENCE SHARING

MATAWALLE REMAINS THE LEADING POLITICAL FORCE IN ZAMFARA AND NORTH WESTERN STATES OF NIGERIA

MATAWALLE: THE ENDURING POLITICAL FORCE AND GRASSROOTS LEADER OF ZAMFARA AND NORTH WESTERN NIGERIA.

The political landscape of Zamfara State and the wider Northern region continues to be shaped by leaders whose influence is measured by service, loyalty, and tangible impact on the lives of the people. In this regard, the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON, stands out as a defining figure whose popularity, acceptability, and political strength remain unmatched.

Matawalle’s leadership is anchored in consistent grassroots engagement and a record of humanitarian development that has directly touched youths, women, traditional institutions, and vulnerable communities across Zamfara and beyond. From educational support and skills acquisition programs to targeted interventions in health and economic empowerment, his contributions have earned him widespread recognition and trust at the grassroots level.

By contrast, political relevance cannot be sustained through rhetoric or symbolic positioning. True electoral value and lasting support are built on verifiable service, party loyalty, and the ability to mobilize people around a shared vision for progress and security. The people of the North have consistently demonstrated that they respond to leaders who deliver results, not to those who rely solely on past titles.

We therefore urge political actors to prioritize unity, constructive engagement, and service to the people. For those seeking to understand the art of grassroots mobilization, party cohesion, and people-centered leadership, the political approach and record of Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle offer a practical and proven model.

The APC in Zamfara and Northern Nigeria remains strong because it is built on leaders who work for the people, with the people, and among the people.
