MATAWALLE: THE ENDURING POLITICAL FORCE AND GRASSROOTS LEADER OF ZAMFARA AND NORTH WESTERN NIGERIA.

MATAWALLE: THE ENDURING POLITICAL FORCE AND GRASSROOTS LEADER OF ZAMFARA AND NORTH WESTERN NIGERIA.

The political landscape of Zamfara State and the wider Northern region continues to be shaped by leaders whose influence is measured by service, loyalty, and tangible impact on the lives of the people. In this regard, the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON, stands out as a defining figure whose popularity, acceptability, and political strength remain unmatched.

Matawalle’s leadership is anchored in consistent grassroots engagement and a record of humanitarian development that has directly touched youths, women, traditional institutions, and vulnerable communities across Zamfara and beyond. From educational support and skills acquisition programs to targeted interventions in health and economic empowerment, his contributions have earned him widespread recognition and trust at the grassroots level.

By contrast, political relevance cannot be sustained through rhetoric or symbolic positioning. True electoral value and lasting support are built on verifiable service, party loyalty, and the ability to mobilize people around a shared vision for progress and security. The people of the North have consistently demonstrated that they respond to leaders who deliver results, not to those who rely solely on past titles.

We therefore urge political actors to prioritize unity, constructive engagement, and service to the people. For those seeking to understand the art of grassroots mobilization, party cohesion, and people-centered leadership, the political approach and record of Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle offer a practical and proven model.

The APC in Zamfara and Northern Nigeria remains strong because it is built on leaders who work for the people, with the people, and among the people.

Group accuses Shettima of using a Fake Ambassadorial title

Group accuses Shettima of using a Fake Ambassadorial title

A political pressure group has accused a Kaduna-based politician, Yerima Usman Shettima, of allegedly using a fake ambassadorial title in his political campaign materials ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group, operating under the banner of Concerned Citizens for Democratic Accountability, described the use of the title “Ambassador” on Shettima’s campaign posters as misleading, deceptive and capable of creating false impressions among members of the public.

The group in a press statement signed by the spokesperson, Comrade Ibrahim Musa, challenged Shetima to publicly explain the source and legitimacy of the title he has allegedly adopted in his political activities.

According to the statement, there is no known official record showing that Shetima was ever appointed as an ambassador by the Federal Government of Nigeria or any recognised international body.

“We are demanding clear explanations from Yerima Usman Shettima on how he came about the ambassadorial title he is parading on campaign posters and political materials,” Musa said.

“He was never officially appointed ambassador by the Nigerian government. The use of such a title is misleading and deceitful to the electorate.”

The group maintained that public office seekers, particularly those aspiring to represent the people at the National Assembly, must demonstrate transparency, honesty and integrity in both public and private conduct.

“Someone seeking a highly coveted Senate seat must be a person of proven integrity. Nigerians deserve leaders who are truthful about their identity, qualifications and background,” Musa added.

The group further warned against what it described as the increasing trend of politicians adopting honorary or unofficial titles to gain political advantage and public sympathy.
According to the group, such practices undermine public trust and weaken democratic values.

They called on relevant authorities, including electoral bodies and anti-corruption agencies, to investigate the matter and ensure that politicians do not misrepresent themselves before the electorate.

President Tinubu’s Northern Support Base Rests on Performance, Not Individuals-Group

President Tinubu’s Northern Support Base Rests on Performance, Not Individuals-Group

The claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requires Senator Abdulaziz Yari to secure Zamfara or Northern votes in 2027 does not reflect the political realities on the ground. Electoral support in the North is driven by performance, party structure, and the capacity of leaders to deliver results for their people.

Matawalle’s Track Record in Zamfara and the North

*1. Sacrifice for Party Victory in 2023*

In the 2023 general elections, then-Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle prioritized President Tinubu’s national victory over his own re-election bid. He mobilized his political structure across Zamfara to deliver votes for the APC presidential ticket, demonstrating loyalty to the party and the President at a critical moment.

*2. Grassroots Acceptance and Human Capital Development*

Dr. Matawalle is widely regarded as one of the most accessible and impactful political figures in Zamfara. During and after his tenure as governor, he implemented programs targeting youth empowerment, women’s support, scholarships, and community development. This direct engagement has earned him significant goodwill among youths, women, and traditional institutions in the state.

*3. Leadership in National Security*

As Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Matawalle has shifted focus to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges through strategic partnerships and industrialization. He is currently engaging international defence manufacturers to attract investment and technology transfer into Nigeria, with emphasis on local production of military hardware. This aligns with President Tinubu’s _Renewed Hope Agenda_ of building self-reliance in defence and reducing dependence on imports.

*4. Party Unity and Reconciliation*

Within the APC, Matawalle has been active in reconciliation efforts across Northern states, working to bridge divides among party stakeholders. His approach has been to prioritize party cohesion and the broader interest of the North within the national political framework.

Zamfara and the wider North have multiple political leaders with influence and followership. President Tinubu’s 2023 victory and prospects for 2027 are built on a coalition of party structures, governors, ministers, and grassroots mobilizers across the region. No single individual holds a veto over Northern votes.

The APC remains committed to internal cohesion, and the contributions of all stakeholders who have supported the President and the party will continue to be recognized.

CLARIFYING THE RECORD ON APC UNITY AND LEADERSHIP IN ZAMFARA AND THE NORTH

CLARIFYING THE RECORD ON APC UNITY AND LEADERSHIP IN ZAMFARA AND THE NORTH

Recent remarks by Sani Abdullahi Jaji, an aide to former Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz Yari, suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu risks political setbacks in the North in 2027 if Senator Yari leaves the APC, require a balanced response in the interest of factual clarity and party cohesion.

  1. Commitment to Tinubu’s 2023 Victory
In the 2023 presidential elections, the then Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON, prioritized the success of President Tinubu over his own gubernatorial re-election. He channeled his political structure, resources, and goodwill toward ensuring Tinubu’s victory nationwide, while others focused on personal electoral ambitions.
  2. Grassroots Acceptance and Service to Zamfara Citizens
Matawalle remains one of the most politically relevant and widely accepted leaders in Zamfara State. His interventions in youth empowerment, women and community support, and education have earned him broad recognition and goodwill across the state, particularly among youths, women, and elders.
  3. Leadership in Security and National Defence
As Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Matawalle is actively advancing the Federal Government’s agenda for security reform and indigenous defence production. He is currently engaging international partners to attract investment and technology transfer into Nigeria’s defence sector, with the aim of providing lasting solutions to the security challenges facing the North and the country at large.
  4. Loyalty and Party Unity
Matawalle has consistently demonstrated loyalty to President Tinubu and the APC. He has been instrumental in building bridges and promoting reconciliation among party members and aggrieved stakeholders in the North, reinforcing party unity ahead of future political engagements.
  5. Context of Party Dynamics
The current political discourse in Zamfara reflects the broader realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. It is important that such discussions are guided by verifiable contributions to the party, to national security, and to the welfare of the people.

While acknowledging the contributions of all APC stakeholders, the record shows that Bello Matawalle has played a decisive role in advancing both the electoral success of the President and the strategic interest of Northern Nigeria within the APC.

Prof Princewill W. Igbagara Faces Eligibility Questions Over Dual Public Appointments in Bayelsa

Prof Princewill W. Igbagara Faces Eligibility Questions Over Dual Public Appointments in Bayelsa

Fresh controversy has emerged over the eligibility of Prof. Princewill Woyinbrakemi Igbagara to contest for the position of member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency under the platform of the APC, following allegations that he simultaneously held appointments in both the Federal University Otuoke and the Bayelsa State Government.

Documents obtained by our correspondent show that Igbagara was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Federal University Otuoke in November 2021, following a transfer of service from the University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun. The appointment letter indicated that he was employed on CONUASS 5/7 salary structure with effect from November 11, 2021.

Another document sighted by our correspondent revealed that the academic was later promoted to the rank of Reader in Chemical Engineering in September 2024, with the promotion taking effect from October 1, 2023. The promotion letter, signed by the university registrar, stated that the approval was granted during the institution’s 22nd Governing Council Meeting.

However, a petition submitted to the national leadership of the APC by a group identified as “Concerned Citizens of Bayelsa West” alleged that Prof. Igbagara concurrently served as a lecturer at the federal institution while also occupying the position of Special Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa State on Science and Technology.

The petition, signed by Ayebatonye Prebor and copied to the APC National Chairman, National Secretary and Bayelsa State Chairman, questioned whether the aspirant had complied with constitutional and public service requirements necessary for participation in elective politics.

According to the petitioners, the alleged dual roles raise concerns bordering on conflict of interest, abuse of office and possible violation of public service regulations guiding political participation by civil servants.

The petition specifically referenced Section 66(1)(f) of the 1999 Constitution, which states that no person shall be qualified for election into the National Assembly if such a person remains employed in the public service of the federation or a state and has not resigned, withdrawn or retired at least 30 days before the election.

The petitioners also cited Rule 030422 of the Public Service Rules, which prohibits public officers from holding political offices or presenting themselves as candidates for elective positions without express government approval.

They subsequently called on the APC leadership to conduct a thorough investigation into the employment and political appointment status of the professor and determine whether he fulfilled all legal requirements to contest for public office.

When contacted for his reaction, Prof. Igbagara told our correspondent that he was currently in transit and not disposed to speak on the allegations at the moment.

“I am in transit so it is not convenient for me to talk. I have your number, I will call you as soon as it is convenient for me to call,” he said.

This report will be updated once Prof. Igbagara provides his full response or clarification on the issues raised.

UPDATE SAHA 2026

As part of the official programme, the Honourable Minister also conducted an on-site inspection of Türkiye’s domestically produced warship, combat helicopters, and aircraft carriers, assessing their operational capabilities and potential areas for collaboration with the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

You Lack Credibility To Vie For Elective Position… Abdullahi Tells Rtd AIG AbdurRahman

You Lack Credibility To Vie For Elective Position… Abdullahi Tells Rtd AIG AbdurRahman

Following preparation towards the 2027 General election in the country, politicians, business men, retirees and Clerics are buying nominations and expressions of interest forms vying for different positions in different political parties.

Among those that have purchased the forms include his former boss a retired AIG of Police Rtd Ahmad AbdurRahman . Abdullahi stated that he was so surprised and laughable seeing AbdurRahman purchasing the form. He stated that Rtd AIG AbdurRahman serves as Governor Bala Muhammad Chief Security Adviser recently but as a result of some infraction or incompetent he was forced to resign his appointment. AbdurRahman who was given the appointment out of compassion and intervention of a highly placed personnel but later claimed to be defected to the APC and equally seeking to become a member representing Alkaleri/ Kirfi Constituency.

Abdullahi further stated that he had worked with AIG AbdurRahman right from 2008 in EFCC when he was a CSP in the police up till 2025 as Chief Security Adviser Bauchi State. Abdullahi averred that the public have read in different media outlets his predicament with his former boss of betrayal, injustice and unfairness while in Bauchi which resulted Governor Bala Muhammad compelling him to resign his appointment with immediate effect, though he claimed that he voluntarily resigned his appointment but that is not true.

Abdullahi says he is disturbed and surprised AbdurRahman is now seeking an elective position under APC, he said AIG AbdurRahman was the one condemning and criticising President Bola Tinubu style of leadership saying APC government has bedevilled with corruption and nepotism, one can imagine how he come about seeking for elective position under the same APC. First and foremost I would like AbdurRahman to tell Nigerians or the people of Alkaleri/Kirfi what he has contributed in the development of the said area in terms of Youth empowerment, Job creation, Community development and engagement among others before thinking to represent them in the National Assembly.

In the same vein Abdullahi Ishaq averred that for the past 17 he served AbdurRahman they have never visited Alkaleri /Kirfi town, they will only goes to Jos and Bauchi but could not visited them once talk less of bringing any developmental projects in the area. AIG AbdurRahman is more concerned about Jos his birth town and Bauchi his origin so why would he think of contesting to represent the good people of Alkaleri/Kirfi in the National Assembly. I advised AIG AbdurRahman to desist from politics for now, he needs to be prepared fully by participating or bringing developmental programmes to the people which will automatically qualify him for any political or elective position.

The National Chairman Prof. Nentawe should be fair and just in his role as the APC National Chairman by ensuring a direct primary is conducted to enable the electorate vote candidate of their choice who has the capability and capacity to represent his people. All stakeholders in APC should also look for a good candidate who can represent them very well instead. Ladies and gentlemen, the good people of Alkaleri/Kirfi, I advised you to present somebody with capacity who will not win and relocate to Abuja and Kaduna. Rtd AIG AbdurRahman is only hiding under religion to achieve his desired objectives, Abdullahi added, he will only apply the “Used and Dump” syndrome on you, I am saying these from experienced

Rtd AIG AbdurRahman’s desire mainly was to dominate everybody using religion and pretend to be incorruptible. He is self-centered and doesn’t want anybody to grow or progress, he will do everything possible to bring you down by ridiculing you. He does the same to me by taking part in truncating my job but I thank God as the matter still before the FCT High Court and I will seek justice for his confession and admittance in taking part in my predicament.

Furthermore Abdullahi is appealing to the people generally to avoid voting for people that have the habits of Used and Dump, stating clearly that all the political parties in Nigeria have brought candidates that are not capable of representing their people with all honesty and transparency. He called on the people of Alkaleri/Kirfi to as a matter of urgent national importance conduct a survey or reach out to places where AIG AbdurRahman has worked before retirement to be sure of how many people from the area he secured employment for. Not even AbdurRahman anybody seeking an elective position from any part of the country should provide detailed information and figures of development he brought to his people, Abdullahi added

In a resounding display of unity and confidence, prominent stakeholders and grassroots supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lere West have thrown their weight behind Hon. Tom Garba, declaring him the undisputed choice to fly the party’s flag for the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

‎As the APC prepares for crucial primaries, a powerful coalition of leaders, youths, women, and traditional influencers insists that fielding Hon. Tom Garba is not just strategic but imperative for securing victory in Lere West. They describe him as a tested, accessible, and development-focused leader whose popularity cuts across ethnic, religious, and social lines.

‎Speaking passionately to journalists, Mr. Nehemiah, a respected party member, said: “Hon. Tom Garba represents the future we desire. His track record of empowering youths and supporting youths is unmatched. He listens to the people and delivers results. If APC is serious about winning Lere West convincingly, Tom Garba is the man for the job.”

‎Madam Jummai, another APC stalward in the area, echoed this sentiment with equal conviction. “Our women and mothers have suffered enough from poor representation. Tom Garba is different. He has empowered many widows, supported girl-child education, and ensured women have a voice. We stand solidly behind him. APC should listen to the voice of the people and give him the ticket without delay,” she declared.

‎Mallam Umar, a prominent elder, highlighted Garba’s appeal among the younger generation. “The youths of Lere West are energized by Hon. Tom Garba. He understands our struggles with unemployment and lack of skills. Through his various interventions, many have gained training and start-up support. He is our candidate. Any other choice risks alienating the critical voting bloc that decides elections,” Mallam Umar asserted.

‎Adding his voice, Alhaji Ibrahim, a respected community elder with deep influence across the local government, emphasized Garba’s unifying factor. “In Lere West, we need a candidate who brings people together. Tom Garba has built bridges where others built walls. He is respected by both Muslims and Christians, farmers and traders alike. He is the peace we need and the development we deserve,” Alhaji Ibrahim noted.

‎Master Jauro, a vocal representative of the younger artisans and market leaders, was equally enthusiastic: “Hon. Tom Garba does not make empty promises. What he says, he does. From support for small businesses and other meaning empowerment, his impact is visible. The ticket must go to him so we can continue this progress under APC,” he said.

‎Reinforcing the growing consensus, an APC stalwart, Hajia Salamatu, captured the mood of the moment: “If APC wants to win Lere West, Tom Garba is the candidate no two ways about it because he is loved by all across the local government.”

‎Supporters point to Hon. Tom Garba’s impressive credentials. A seasoned politician with a heart for service, he has consistently championed youth empowerment, agricultural support, and women’s inclusion. His accessibility has earned him admiration even from opposition strongholds, positioning him as a candidate capable of delivering a landslide victory.

‎Analysts believe that in an increasingly competitive political landscape, APC cannot afford to ignore the voice of the people. Lere West remains a strategic constituency, and fielding a candidate with broad acceptability like Hon. Tom Garba could consolidate APC’s hold on Kaduna State.

‎As the countdown to the primaries intensifies, the message from Lere West is loud and clear: Hon. Tom Garba is the winning ticket. Stakeholders urge the APC leadership at both state and national levels to heed the clarion call of the people and formally endorse him as the party’s candidate for the Kaduna State House of Assembly seat in Lere West.

‎The overwhelming endorsement reflects not just political calculation but a genuine desire for continued progress. With Tom Garba at the helm, supporters are confident that Lere West will witness unprecedented development and that APC will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming elections.
